Minor hosting issues - podcast will be back up shortly using a new host.

Episode 28 is up.

JT joins us, as we randomly snatch beers we've never tasted ... some of which we've never heard.

Episode 27 is live! We visit the east coast: Troegs, Stoudts, and more!

We spent over a hundred bucks getting our gigantic suitcase of beer from the east coast back home. Was it worth it? Episode 27. Available now. Free. You know the drill. More dramatic punctuation.

Episodes 25 and 26!

Don't miss! Erik's Birthday, and special guest Ninkasi Brewing Company! Downloads to the right.

Episode 24 - Special Guest Sean Paxton.

Sean figures prominently in my evolution of homebrewer to brewer. Way back in 2005, I was in the Bay Area Brew Crew, where I really began to understand how beer works. Sean is not only a fantastic brewer, but unrivaled in his knowledge of how food and beer play. It was a real pleasure to have him on the show - this is a big one (that's what she said) topping 3.5 hours. Enjoy.

Episode 23

Some breweries have a regular line and a high end line. Sometimes these are great breweries with amazing high lines, occasionally there are mediocre breweries with fantastic moments of inspiration (or the accountant lets them spend a little). Also, more Yelp hate.

Episode 22! JT joins in.

JT was kind enough to sit down with us after his Central / SoCal adventure. As befits such a fine bottle shop, he personally makes excursions into the great unknown (south of the peninsula), braving the 5 freeway, to bring some tasty brew. I haven't had anything in this episode's lineup, nor have I heard of many of the breweries. Also, check out the debate between Greg and I about beer clubs, and my thorough dismantling of yelpers.

What a fun episode, from the loft at Lagunitas. Some great candid information from Ron Lindenbusch, and Jeremy Marshall. Joe Tucker from ratebeer.com added to the conversation as only he can. In addition, Ryan, another Lagunitas brewer, and good friend of Tavernkeep Noah sits in for a bit.

Also, barleywine in a can, growler rules, and excise tax.

Tomorrow's episode will be recorded AT Lagunitas Brewing. If you have any questions or comments for Lagunitas that you'd like read on the air, send them to noah@bottomofthebottlepodcast.com

Episode 20! Jeff Barkley and Jay Brooks

Fun episode with one of my favorite people, Jeff Barkley of Moonlight Brewing company. Jay Brooks, founder of SF Beer Week (among many, many other things) also joins us for Barrel Aged beers, and Beer Week happenings, and our usual ramblings.

Episode 19! 101 North

It's here! A long time making, we've finally managed to get an episode with 101 North Brewing company, and it's pretty rad. 2.5 hours of IPA, distribution woes, and even sake, which none of us have even the most basic understanding of. Enjoy.

Bottom of the Bottle Episode 18! Ciders!

We are joined by our friends from Apple Sauced and Tilted Shed - two new cider works in Sonoma County. We were set straight on a number of things - it's interesting that there's such a beer and cider intersection, when cider shares a bit more with wine in terms of production. A good portion of this probably comes from the surrounding culture, which is very beer-like. Super cool, laid-back, helpful, friendly. No pinky raising necessary.

Episode 17! Porters... or was it stouts?

We're not sure we care to roll with the BJCP style guidelines on this debacle. A stout used to be a strong.. porter. A porter is ... a dark nutritious beer that porters (the career) used to drink. And still do, presumably. Download episode 16... just to the right.

Cider Episode 2/30/13

In a break from the norm, the BotB crew is going to visit ciders on the 30th, with special guests from Tilted Shed and Apple Sauced! This is going to be interesting, as we're used to knowing what the hell we're on about, but we're Cider noobs. It somehow involves apples, I'm told.

Equipment FAIL!

We had a FANTASTIC podcast with the crew from 101 North Brewing Company. Unfortunately, I had the beta of Windows 8 on my laptop. The beta has run out, and Microsoft, in its infinite wisdom, decided that this means your computer will reboot every 2 hours without warning. This happened. It is gone to the ether.

The good news is that we have rescheduled for early next month. Stay tuned! In addition, I am securing a backup digital record which plugs directly into the mixing board so that we will always have a backup plan in place. No more fails!
